How to Avoid Distractions Staying Focused on Your Goals

Recently, someone mentioned to me that they didn't want to travel for the holidays because of the fear of catching a disease. I also heard a few people mentioned how depressed and sad they were about some recent news about their favorite celebrity.

At times the media causes us to get so consumed with what is going on in the lives of others that we slowly take the focus off of ourselves.  Sure, it’s important for us to be informed about what is going on in the world.  However, letting what we hear stop us from being happy, healthy and prosperous is not such a good thing.

What you put into your mind has an effect on your whole life.  Realize that watching the news may cause you to worry, keep you in a constant state of fear and stop you from moving yourself to a higher level of success.  I’m not suggesting that you stop watching the news altogether.  I’m simply saying to be mindful of how you are choosing to react to or hold on to the information you are receiving.  Yes, it is true that there are problems and issues in life we must be aware of. However, your success is determined by how you take in, process and handle those problems and issues.

Please make a habit of shifting the focus back to you!  Take a good look at yourself.  Are you aware of the power you have within your own life to make a difference in the lives of others?  Are you seeking out material that will inspire and uplift your spirit?  Did you know that you have the answers to the questions you seek?  Do you know that you can accomplish any goal you choose to?  Do you know that whatever problem you are faced with right now, you can figure out a way to solve it?

Please be constantly aware of what you are thinking about and focusing on, in order to keep moving to the level of success you aspire to. Focus on your success and determine to be successful no matter what!

Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

“Don’t dwell on what went wrong.  Instead focus on what to do next.  Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.” – Denis Waitley

“Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them.  They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.” – Jack Canfield

Activating Potential Reveals the Unique You

Over the years I have talk to many people who have extraordinary talents and wonderful ideas that are simply blowing in the wind.  We all have dreams and goals. What has made me as successful as I am in my life right now, has been that I constantly take action towards my dreams and I am aware of the value I can offer to others.

We are all uniquely different.  I’ve often wondered about there being so many coaches, how would I be able to do the same thing and be different.  I used to wonder why someone would hire me as their coach.  Helping people to be happy and seeing them accomplish their dreams has always been a passion of mine.  I have come to realize that the tremendous desire I have to help people in my own unique way is all I need to make a difference in the lives of others.

Please realize that no one can reach out to others in the same way that you do.  No one can speak your words or convey your meanings the way that you do.  There are people seeking the value that only you can give to them.  Once you become aware of this, take responsibility for your uniqueness and what you have to offer.  No one else can fulfill your unique life calling.  You have the potential inside to be as successful as you want to be!  Now is the time to live your potential!

"You are always a valuable, worthwhile human being – not because anybody says so, not because you're successful, not because you make a lot of money – but because you decide to believe it and for no other reason." – Wayne Dyer

"If you create and market a product or service through a business that is in alignment with your personality, capitalizes on your history, incorporates your experiences, harnesses your talents, optimizes your strengths, complements your weaknesses, honors your life's purpose, and moves you towards the conquest of your fears, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that anyone in this or any other universe can offer the same value that you do!" – Walt Goodridge

How to Feel Good About Yourself

One of my clients told me about a situation she experienced that left her feeling hurt, angry and upset. When something is done to you, especially by someone very close to you, it is understandable that it will hurt. Sometimes you are in shock and it is the only thing that seems to stay on your mind. When this happens, you must do something to make yourself feel good.

The importance of feeling good was one of the biggest lessons I learned from the DVD movie "The Secret" several years ago. When we feel good we tend to create and experience more of what feels good. I know this may sound way too simple to be true, however if you believe in the simple principle of what you give you will receive, it's not a very hard concept to grasp.

Why do we allow ourselves to hold on to and agonize over a bad situation when what we really want is to feel good? We must learn to flip the feeling! Please realize that you have the power to change the way you feel about anything! Depending on the situation, it may take a little work; however, it can be done. When you are not releasing anger, resentment and hurt feelings, it is only hurting you. Flip the feeling! Determine that you will feel good no matter what! Feeling good is the springboard to having a successful life.

Here are a few tips to help you "Flip the Feeling" when you are going through an unpleasant situation:
  1. Pray – Praying about the situation is the first place to start because you are communicating that you want to feel better and you truly want the situation to be resolved.
  2. Surrender – Once you pray, you must let go. Practicing surrender helps you to stop worrying, complaining and agonizing over your problems.
  3. Forgive – When someone hurts you, you must forgive them. Remember, forgiveness is for you, not necessarily for the other person.
  4. Make a Choice – This is the greatest power you have. You can make the choice to stay upset, sad or hurt or, you can take some actions to make yourself feel better.
  5. Take Positive Action – Read something positive every day, every hour, every minute if you have to. Watch positive videos or movies; Listen to inspiration music; Talk to your coach or someone who you know will encourage and motivate you to get past the bad feeling.
"You can begin right now to feel healthy. You can begin to feel prosperous. You can begin to feel the love that's surrounding you, even if it's not there. And what will happen is the Universe will correspond to the nature of your song." -- Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith

"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned." -- Siddhartha Buddha

"It's really important that you feel good, because this feeling good is what goes out as a signal into the Universe, and starts to attract more of itself to you. So the more you can feel good, the more you will attract the things that help you feel good." -- Dr. Joe Vitale

Beyond the Comfort Zone

Are you living life the way that you want to? Do you wake up every morning excited and happy to start your day?  Or, do you force yourself to get up, tackle your daily routine and grin and bear it? I have definitely been there, done that. The number one thing that has helped me to change my attitude everyday is being aware of the potential I have inside to create the type of life I want for myself and my family.

Many of us say that we are sick and tired of the way our life is going.  However, how tired are we really? If you have been trying to accomplish something more for your life, and you’re not seeing results, you may have gotten accustomed to just complaining about it.  Although we may not like complaining or listening to the complaints of others, they are familiar and comfortable to us like an old habit.  Knowing that is wonderful, because we have the power inside to change our habits, the power to acquire skills and the power to choose our attitude, our happiness and our success!

Stop complaining about what hasn’t happened and what you want to happen or who is keeping you from making it happen. Get up, get moving and make it happen!  You can accomplish whatever it is you set out to do! You are capable of more than you realize! You must challenge yourself!

Challenging yourself a little everyday will help you to see the potential that exists within your life.
Several years ago, Jazz musician, Herbie Hancock mentioned on a television program, “… as soon as people latch on to something where people will say hey that’s really good, then they want to stay there because that’s security, that’s acceptance and they feel comfortable…they don’t want to move outside of their comfort zone, but the hip stuff is outside of the comfort zone.

The successful life of your dreams, the “hip stuff” is right outside of your comfort zone.  Now is the time to get rid of the complaints, Challenge yourself, live your potential and create the successful life you desire!

“You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining.  You make progress by implementing ideas. – Shirley Chisholm

“It’s important to be able to step outside your comfort zone and be challenged with something you’re not familiar or accustomed to.  That challenge will allow you to see what you can do.” – J. R. Martinez

“You’ve got to go out on a limb sometimes because that is where the fruit is.” – Will Rogers
