Don't Lose Sight of Your Personal Dreams and Goals

I’ve worked for someone else for over 30 years of my life in a full-time capacity. That’s a long time to invest in something other than the dreams and goals I have for myself. However, working for a company or someone else's business is not an uncommon thing. Being able to provide for yourself and your family is absolutely necessary and its great when you can do that while working in a nice, comfortable and drama free environment. If you are happy and satisfied with what you are doing to earn a living, that’s wonderful!

In my experience, most people are not satisfied with their day jobs and we become comfortable with helping someone else achieve their career goals, while we allow them to give us just enough money and benefits to keep helping them to succeed. Therefore, we can get so preoccupied with working a day job that it distracts us from pursuing our personal dreams and goals.

One thing you must realize and stay constantly aware of is that you have the potential within to be successful and live the life of your dreams.

Here are 3 tips to help you get started with accomplishing your dreams and goals while working a day job.

  1. Purchase a Journal. Writing down your dreams and goals is a great first step to make toward achievement. It helps you to see what it is you intend to accomplish. When you review your dreams and goals daily it provides a certain level of focus and motivation for you to keep moving forward.

  2. Utilize Social Media. This is another wonderful action step to take towards your dreams and goals. Being on Social Media, gives you an opportunity to learn everything you need to in your desired interest. You are also able to connect with like-minded individuals to learn from or to acquire potential clients. Conducting your business online can be done in the comfort of your own home or anywhere you can connect.

  3. Hire a Success Coach. Being a coach myself, I can say that this is the most important tip to getting your dreams and goals accomplished. I, personally, accomplish so much more when I am working together with my coach. I love the support, new ideas and strategies that I did not know that help me expand my thinking. It helps me through obstacles that may block my accomplishment at the time.
We all have different responsibilities and circumstances and some are more challenging than others. If you have a deep desire and belief that there is something more you must do in life, know that it is possible. There is truth to the old saying, "Where there is a will, there is a way."

How to Activate the Power of Gratitude

I hope that you are working on your goals and dreams everyday. On your path, always remain grateful. The gratitude practice is a tool for happiness and its usefulness is knowledgeable to mainstream. Long-term studies support gratitude’s effectiveness, suggesting that a positive, appreciative attitude contributes to greater success in work, greater health, peak performance in sports and business. It also contributes to a higher sense of well-being, and a faster rate of recovery from health issues.

But while we may acknowledge gratitude’s benefits, it can be difficult to prolong. In general, we are trained to notice what is broken, undone or lacking in our lives. But, to reap gratitude’s full healing potential, we have to embody an appreciative mindset.

We have to create a new routine. That’s why practicing gratitude makes so much sense. When we practice giving thanks for all we have, instead of complaining about what we lack, we give ourselves the chance to see all of life as an opportunity and a blessing.

Remember that gratitude isn’t a blindly optimistic approach in which the bad things in life are whitewashed or ignored. It’s more a matter of where we put our focus and attention. Pain and injustice exist in this world, but when we focus on the gifts of life, we gain a feeling of well-being.
Gratitude balances us and gives us hope. There are many things to be grateful for:
  • colorful autumn leaves
  • legs that work
  • friends who listen and really hear
  • chocolate
  • fresh eggs
  • warm jackets
  • tomatoes
  • the ability to read
  • roses
  • our health
  • butterflies

What’s on Your Gratitude List?

Some Ways to Practice Gratitude

  • Keep a gratitude journal in which you list things you are thankful for in your life. You can make daily, weekly or monthly lists. Greater frequency may be better for creating a new habit, but just keeping that journal where you can see it will remind you to think in a grateful way.
  • Make a gratitude collage by drawing or pasting pictures
  • Practice gratitude around the dinner table or make it part of your nighttime routine
  • Make a game of finding the hidden blessing in a challenging situation. When you feel like complaining, make a gratitude list instead. You may be amazed by how much better you feel
Notice how gratitude is impacting your life. Write about it, sing about it, express thanks for gratitude. As you practice, an inner shift begins to occur, and you may be delighted to discover how content and hopeful you are feeling. That sense of fulfillment is gratitude at work.

Let's talk Solutions!

I spoke to someone recently who was complaining about a problem she was facing. This is someone I haven't talked to in quite a while. She talked for about a half hour when I realized, that she never mentioned any action she could or would take to overcome the problem.

I know we all need to vent at times however, I heard the same problem from her several times before. We are so conditioned to speak more about our problems and the negative side of things. At times we may find ourselves telling everyone we encounter about our current problems.

We must realize that the more we talk and think about any problems and obstacles we are facing, the more likely they will stay around. Here are 3 simple action steps to take to help you move in a more positive direction toward creating solutions to your problems.

  1. Create a vision of what your solution will look like. You can create a vision in many ways -- through drawing, cutting out pictures or writing it out. For example if you are having a problem with your co-worker, write out a positive conversation that you could have with them. Read it daily until the problem is solved.
  2. Create daily affirmations regarding your solution. For example, let’s say you have writers block and a magazine publisher is expecting an article from you in a few days.  Affirm that “the words for my article will come to me easily, effortlessly and right on time.” Say it as many times as you want to throughout your day.
  3. Surrender. The spiritual principle of surrender is not about giving up. It is the act of letting go; the acknowledgement of the power of spiritual activity.  Practicing surrender will help you to stop worrying, complaining and agonizing over problems or situations. Pray, chant, mediate....surrender to your faith to let go of any thoughts or obstacles you believe are stopping you from getting your solution.
While it is important to know and state what your problems are, it is more important to talk about and focus on the solutions.

You are bigger than any problem that you may be facing and the solutions to your problems are not as far away as you think. You have the potential to create the solutions to your problems.

"Leaders think and talk about the solutions. Followers think and talk about the problems." -- Brian Tracy"

Problem Talk creates problems - Solution Talk creates solutions." -- Steven de Shazer

Leap Believing in the Achievement of your Dreams

Every single one of us has the potential inside to live the kind of life that we desire. However, many of us go to work every day to do a job that we're really not interested in. There are many reasons why we find ourselves in that situation. We certainly have to make a living for ourselves and our families. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were getting up every morning to go to our dream job or our home office to run own successful business? Definitely! So, how can we go from where we are to where we want to be? It's time to create a fresh new plan of action for success!

If you want something different, you have to do something different. The potential is already there for you to succeed.  Keep that in mind.  Once you really realize that, have faith, be positive and consistently take action towards your dreams and goals. Anything is possible. It just depends on how much you want, whatever it is you want.

I read recently that someone bought a $3,000 ticket to a concert to see their favorite performer. That's wonderful!  I've never heard of a ticket for a concert costing that much! However, this tells you that we will find a way to do whatever it is we want to do, no matter what the cost.

Don't let your fears and doubts hold you back. Take a leap of faith! Ignore conventional approaches; Focus on the ends rather than the means; Trust in the power of pursuit! Take a good look at your life, decide what you want, and go for it!

"It always seems impossible until it is done." – Nelson Mandela

"Leap and grow your wings on the way down" -- Les Brown

"Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous New Year by believing. Believe in yourself. And believe that there is a loving Source - a Sower of Dreams - just waiting to be asked to help you make your dreams come true." -- Sarah Ban Breathnach

Moving from Freeze to Forward

Are you tired of being stuck in trying to grow your own business? Or wondering how to get out of a job that now feels more like a trap than a career? You're not alone. Just about every business person hits a plateau or sticking point at one time or another, if not several times, over the years.

When this happens it is our sign that it is time for a change. In life sometimes, we feel like we will just work a job temporarily, then life happens. We create families, life’s unexpected situations happen and all the while, time continues to go on. Now we are many years past our intended time to be living the life of our dreams and we feel stagnant. We think about that goal or dream we used to have but now feel lost on how to get there.

In this freeze mode we listen to motivational and spiritual teachers that inspire us in that moment. However, the moment often translates into more confusion on how to accomplish our dream or fizzles under the fear of uprooting the life we have built and not meeting our responsibilities.
In this mental place we may just give up, feel too old or think that the time has passed for us to experience our dreams. Here, is where we stop and don’t take action. However we still feel the desire. Know that having that desire, no matter how small, is enough. You can start taking action right now based on that small desire.

In this moment what you need is something like a personal fitness trainer that knows and understands your current condition then guides you along. All it takes is the willingness to look – seek and ye shall find….”knock and the door will be open.” One way to start knocking is to start researching. The same way you focus your search efforts for that gift your children want or that item you saw on TV that you’ve been wanting for a while, that’s the way you should search when it comes to your dreams and goals. In this age of the Internet we can find ANYTHING with the right keywords, focus and time. Look for information to learn more about what you want to accomplish.

This is a gentle way to start moving toward your dreams. This process doesn’t threaten your current stable life. You are only looking for examples. Want to be a singer and you are not twenty? Look up the singers that made it to the television program "The Voice." Many of them are well over twenty and living their dreams. Find out their story, where are they performing, or what motivates them. Maybe you want to be a painter? What are the artists in your area doing? Where are they hanging out? Where are they showing their work? Doing research helps to move you forward in the right direction.

ANY dream you have, there is a way to accomplish it that is right for you. Get started today researching and writing down anything that sounds interesting. This is the first step. When you have an idea, you first move your energy and place your attention on that idea. This practice brings you more ways to find what you are looking for and get you closer to your dreams.

Beyond the Comfort Zone

Are you living life the way that you want to? Do you wake up every morning excited and happy to start your day?  Or, do you force yourself to get up, tackle your daily routine and grin and bear it? I have definitely been there, done that. The number one thing that has helped me to change my attitude everyday is being aware of the potential I have inside to create the type of life I want for myself and my family.

Many of us say that we are sick and tired of the way our life is going.  However, how tired are we really? If you have been trying to accomplish something more for your life, and you’re not seeing results, you may have gotten accustomed to just complaining about it.  Although we may not like complaining or listening to the complaints of others, they are familiar and comfortable to us like an old habit.  Knowing that is wonderful, because we have the power inside to change our habits, the power to acquire skills and the power to choose our attitude, our happiness and our success!

Stop complaining about what hasn’t happened and what you want to happen or who is keeping you from making it happen. Get up, get moving and make it happen!  You can accomplish whatever it is you set out to do! You are capable of more than you realize! You must challenge yourself!

Challenging yourself a little everyday will help you to see the potential that exists within your life.
Several years ago, Jazz musician, Herbie Hancock mentioned on a television program, “… as soon as people latch on to something where people will say hey that’s really good, then they want to stay there because that’s security, that’s acceptance and they feel comfortable…they don’t want to move outside of their comfort zone, but the hip stuff is outside of the comfort zone.

The successful life of your dreams, the “hip stuff” is right outside of your comfort zone.  Now is the time to get rid of the complaints, Challenge yourself, live your potential and create the successful life you desire!

“You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining.  You make progress by implementing ideas. – Shirley Chisholm

“It’s important to be able to step outside your comfort zone and be challenged with something you’re not familiar or accustomed to.  That challenge will allow you to see what you can do.” – J. R. Martinez

“You’ve got to go out on a limb sometimes because that is where the fruit is.” – Will Rogers

Reach a Goal in 6 Weeks with Email Coaching

My “BE THE NEXT TOP SUCCESS STORY” email coaching program helps individuals reach their short term goals in six weeks. When you have an activity to accomplish, it is easy to feel stalled by doubt, lack of direction or confusion. In my 6-week course, I facilitate clarity that starts you to outline action steps and build confidence that we sometimes diminish subconsciously. Participants in my email coaching program get to experience the active process of working with a success coach for accountability and combining two energies in agreement for you to achieve your goal.

Your goal will be reach by:
  1. Completing the action steps each week from the coaching assignments
  2. Receive resources that help you get past the blocks that appear to have you stuck
  3. Unlimited access to your success coaching with unlimited emails
"JoAnn, I am happy to say that I have been able to accomplish a lot of what we set out to do. Through your six week coaching program, I was able to take the initiative ....stop feeling sorry for myself...and turn around my situation. Also, I am very grateful for the inspiration I got through your book...it was very helpful. I hope that our relationship can continue although the 6-week program has ended. Thank you very much!" ~ S. Blackman, Barbados

If you are ready and available to take the necessary steps on your customized action plan to check this activity off your list, the time is now. I am ready with the resources to help you cross the finish line for this goal.

"I am working in the financial industry and recent years I've become a part-time trainer to teach some professional courses in finance. I was invited to speak on a new course in which I was not confident enough to present the contents well. Therefore, I enrolled for JoAnn's email coaching program. Initially, I doubted (not disclosed to her) if email coaching would be as effective as face-to-face one, but JoAnn had made another successful story for me and her!

Her every coaching question, encouraging message or inspiring quote has enriched my mind and charged up my confidence. Finally, I did my new training course and received a very good feedback. I must share this credit with my mentor, Ms. JoAnn Youngblood King.

After completing the coaching sessions with JoAnn, I strongly believe "success" is no longer a scarce resource. A successful coach can ignite success to others like Jesus' miracle of five loaves and two fishes. JoAnn, you said you are proud of me, me too!" ~ J. Tsang, Hong Kong

There are only 25 spaces remaining in this program. If you want to learn quick, easy ways to implement positive changes in your life and realize this aim, this program is for you! Click here to get started now http://bit.ly/1wE8FGF.
